We were driving from Auckland to Rotorua and needed a stop to refresh and have coffee and breakfast as we left rather early from Auckland without breakfast. We also noticed that it appears to be a popular truck stop as well. We ordered of course Pokeno bacon with sunny side fried eggs and toast - yummy! Coffee was good too! Definitely worth a stop if you need a snack and a coffee.

The food was nice, the hot drinks were not hot enough, could be hotter. I have nothing to say good or bad about the service or atmosphere. All in all a great trip to Mercer.

Pokeno bacon diner is the best breakfast stop on State highway one. Generous portions of bacon and a killer bacon sandwich with eggs and cheese. I have been stopping here for brekkie for over 10 years and the quality is constant, every time. I think the condiments can improve, hence the four stars. Highly recommended.

If you are craving bacon, this is the place. The smack burger is one of the best, not in the usual menu.

We shared a bacon and eggs and a big breakfast. Nice bacon of course and eggs were nice and runny and brightly coloured yolks. My partner and I enjoyed the creamy mushrooms and beans too. Ask for a bit of relish and they will accommodate. Nice staff . Seating area was a bit food courtish.

We made a pit stop here for brunch before continuing our journey. What I liked most was perfectly cooked bacon was not salty at all. Quick and friendly service, generous fillings and good portions, reasonable price, cleanliness, plenty of parking. What else could I ask for? Certainly recommended.
